Strong Neighbourhood Grant
Funding: Up to $1500 (matching)
The Strong Neighbourhood Grant is built on the belief that small actions can lead to big change. Even modest grants have the power to spark meaningful connections that create more resilient, connected, and safe communities. The program recognizes that everyone has something valuable to contribute - whether through hearts, hands, or mind - to strengthen their neighbourhood. By encouraging residents to connect and engage with one another, the grant fosters a sense of belonging and pride. At its core, the grant empowers residents to take the lead in shaping their neighbourhoods, acknowledging that those who live within a community understand its needs and potential best.
Successful applicants must match the grant with volunteer labour, donated materials, or cash contributions.
Eligibility:
- Groups of three or more neighbours from separate households.
- Neighbourhood-based projects (not city-wide and must be completed within the calendar year).
- Applicants must live within Kelowna's geographic boundaries.
Eligible activities and expenses:
- Neighbourhood gardens, alleyway enhancements, murals, and story walks, etc.
- Neighbourhood events like block parties, festivals, porch concerts, or movie nights, etc.
Neighbourhood projects can receive up to $1,500, while events are eligible for up to $500 in matching funds.
Funded by: Central Okanagan Foundation.
